Google can be your best salesperson: it brings people who are already looking for what you sell. The difference between a business that receives enquiries every week and one that receives none is almost never the budget, but having the three channels that share that demand covered.
1. Google Business Profile (the first step, and it is free)
For searches with local intent, the map appears above the traditional results. To compete there, you need:
- A well-chosen primary category and relevant secondary categories.
- A name, phone number and opening hours identical to those on your website (NAP consistency).
- Complete services and description, using the vocabulary your customer uses.
- Real, up-to-date photos of your work, not stock images.
- Reviews requested consistently and all replied to, including the bad ones.
2. SEO: appearing when people search for you
Your profile gives you visibility on the map; SEO gives you visibility on the rest of the page. The basics that bring structure to almost any project:
- One page per service and per area. Trying to rank everything through the homepage is the most common mistake.
- Keywords with intent. ‘Kitchen renovation quote Pontevedra’ converts; just ‘renovations’ does not.
- Speed and mobile. If it takes too long to load, you lose visitors before they read anything.
- Content that answers real questions and links to your services.
This is the work we do through our SEO agency and, with a province-wide focus, through local SEO in Pontevedra.
3. Google Ads: buying the demand you do not yet have
Ads does not replace SEO; it complements it while organic search matures. It works when the campaign focuses on high-intent keywords, negative keywords are carefully managed and each advert leads to a specific landing page, not the homepage. Without that landing page, you pay for the click and lose it.
4. The piece nobody looks at: the landing page
Bringing in visitors is half the job. Whether they call or write depends on the page explaining in five seconds what you do, who it is for and what the user should do. A visible phone number, a short form, social proof and just one call to action per screen. Almost everything is decided there, which is why conversion-focused web design matters as much as search rankings.
5. Measure, or you will be guessing
Google Search Console to find out why people find you, Analytics 4 to see what they do on your site, and a conversion event for every form, call and WhatsApp message. Without that, you cannot know which channel brings you customers and which only brings you visits.
